Thoughts

... authenticity ...

Think about this: creatively, who is really the driving force today? In the domain of music, is it the artists, the labels, the managers or the distributers? Companies that offer song downloads for almost nothing? Or marketing companies who, watching over every move a customer makes, try to analyze their shopping habits in order to conceptualize future musical projects?

In this era of automation, virtualization, globalization and interconnec-tivity in which we seem to have found ourselves so all of a sudden, I sense a strong need for a new kind of liveliness and authenticity. While think-tanks, psychotherapists, journalists, musicians, philosophers - you name them - are focusing on ways of dealing with the confusion this post-information-revolution era has been causing Western civilized burghers, Asian, African and Caribbean philosophies appear before us as a relief. Music from these parts of the globe offers itself as the one true panacea for us technologically overwhelmed, mouse-click driven citizens.

It's all about liveliness and authenticity, people - sit back, cool down and relax ...
